Good morning America and World. It is my Sorority’s Founders’ Day. While you may get sick of us with this pink-green, just know that while we are the first Sorority founded for black women, we have all races of women dedicated to serving all humanity. Just think 116 years ago, educated black women were not even permitted to join organizations that served their communities. Thank you, Mom, for always serving others and not yourself. I honor you and all the women who went to glory who served others to the detriment of your own families who were mostly raised by elder siblings as our moms and your moms served others through forced servitude. I cannot find bliss in this joy without honoring all black queens.
If our 20 founders’ had not stepped up and put women of color in the spotlight, we would not be here today; 115 years ago, our Sorors founded this mighty Sorority.
It makes me proud to have been a member for almost 28 years. I also thank the Founders of the Order Of The Eastern Star (OES), Heroines of Jericho, and the starlights, where I first learned to serve others without a degree. Let me thank my mother for devoting her life to Service and raising me to serve God through serving His children. I knew my assignment and knew I would one day be an AKA. Before AKA, before OES, before HOJ, I thank Jesus because He set the perfect example of not being served but devoted to serving humanity.
That said, Go Pinkngreen as Facebook /META is flooded with American Queens of Service and Sisterhood.
Many of us are sisters from other mothers. We learned how to lift each other up and never tear down. Instead, we lift each other, and when one falls, we help to adjust each other’s crown.
