“Behold, I have given you the power ‘to tread upon serpents’ and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19
This verse encouraged my soul and spirit this morning, and I prayed the saints will find the same comfort that Brother Luke gives to me this day. It matters not how many times I have heard these words, there are times that God gives me a refresher when I need it.
Waking up every day to another crisis, another disaster, or just another disappointment by those I love, I acknowledge that at times as a human, I become saddened and troubled, observing “the world filled with danger and deceit.” Resolute in the knowledge that as a Christian, I have spiritual enemies who lie in wait, ready to poison my life with their lies. But where Jesus sends me, He also equips me for battle. It is essential that I operate in His truth, and that I utilize the teaching that He gave to His disciples after His resurrection.
The same teaching that JESUS gave to His disciples, before His ascension back to His Father in Heaven, is necessary for us as apostles today.
It is by God’s power that He gave to His Son, Jesus, the power that “protects us from the lies of the world and the schemes of the enemy so that through us, God’s truth shall bring Him glory.”
As soldiers for Christ today, we have to hold on to this promise that Jesus gave to us through St Luke.
Jesus gave the Apostle the power to “come against serpents and demonic forces, that includes these two-legged serpents with their money and power.” The devil can only do what God allows him to do. As Saints of God, we should not fear what man can do to us.
When we live as Christ directs, we have the power to withstand the temptations and the terrors that man dishes out. We can do it because we have that same power that Jesus gave to His disciples, which Jesus elevated to Apostles.
It is with great joy that we can rest assured that God will take care of us even when our way seems dark, we must rest in Jesus and let Satan know his power is limited, and he will spend eternity in Hell.
Prayer
Dear God, my Father, thank You for choosing me while I was sinning, you called me out, you chose me and I received You as my Lord and Savior. I surrendered my will to Your Will for me. I relinquish myself and my living recklessly to the work that will lead me safely home in Your Kingdom. Lord Jesus, keep my feet planted and order my steps as I walk on the heads of proverbial lions, serpents, and those who seek after me to destroy my peace. Thank you for the ” eyes to see the danger that awaits, and the power to stomp any lie that might lead me astray or cause me to stumble in my faith.”
I ask you Lord to help me when I doubt, keep me when I feel alone, and protect me from enemies seen or unseen.
I ask Lord that You increase my territory, keep me the lender and not the borrower and never again let me compromise my integrity and let me rest assured that You have all that I need in your storehouse, In the mighty name of Jesus, the Christ, Amen.
